Patrick Schmitz has resigned his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bert Nash Center, effective immediately (Tuesday, June 24, 2025). The governing board is expected to appoint an interim CEO in the coming days.

“On behalf of the board, I want to recognize the good service that Patrick has provided
for many years,” said Governing Board Chair Matthew Herbert. “We also appreciate that
his decision to resign allows us to act swiftly to address our financial crisis.”
Over the past few months, the Bert Nash Center has been forced to contend with
increasing expenses and decreasing revenue. Most recently, this resulted in layoffs, salary reductions and other expense-reducing measures. The governing board is
exploring support available through the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics
network, as well.
“This is an incredibly difficult time for the people who care about and rely on the Center,”
Herbert said. “The future of BNC is at the front of every Governing Board discussion
and decision. We appreciate the incredible dedication and service of BNC staff and are
confident that we will create a bright future when we work together.”
