New HR director: “It is a perfect fit”

How do you feel about joining the Bert Nash team?

“I am thrilled, excited and honored to be joining the Bert Nash team. I feel like it is a perfect fit. The center has a long, proud history in the community — working to better people’s quality of life. My whole career has been dedicated to that same type of work.”

What attracted you to the position?

“Simple. I have a deep respect for Bert Nash’s mission and a great love for our community. In addition to that, I have a lot of experience in nonprofit HR, which isn’t that common. I thought I could be a great resource for the center."

This is an exciting time at the Center, with lots of changes — a new CEO and COO — how do you feel about being a part of that?

“Change is hard. There is always loss. I think it is important to recognize that loss. With that said, change is part of life and is transformative. I am excited to be part of that transformation. I hope my skills, abilities, and talents will allow this transformation to be inspiring and positive.”

You’ve had a history of working with nonprofits, right? What motivates you to do that?

“Yes, my whole career has been in the nonprofit sector. Growing up, my family faced numerous struggles. Several nonprofits, including Bert Nash, were there for us. Since that time, I told myself that once I was able to give back, I would. And I have been for over 20 years now. The impact of services is what keeps me motivated.”

It’s been great getting to know you better. Anything else you’d like to add?

“I would like to take a moment and recognize our amazing staff here at Bert Nash. I have only been employed here a short time, but I am already greatly impressed with their passion, professionalism, and commitment to our clients, co-workers, and community.”
